Summer is all about FUN and that’s what children will have at Mad Science of Palm Beach’s S.T.E.M. themed camps. Wellington, you already know how great our afterschool programs and birthday parties are now it's time to enjoy our summer camps.
This summer we are excited to be working with the Village of Wellington to offer several weeks of summer camps. Children will get the chance to have hands-on experience with conservation during Wild Adventures Camp, tap into their inner detective at Spy Academy Camp, explore the world outside our planet during NASA Space Explorer Camp, and so much more during our fun half-day camps.
We will even have camp for preschoolers with My First Lab – allowing mini Mad Scientist a chance to dabble in the world of science.
All camp information is on the Village of Wellington Summer Camp website.
Don’t forget that we still offer our amazing Birthday Parties during the summer. Children will love our new, sticky party theme – Super Sticky Slime. During this fully interactive party, children make three different polymers (slime to you nonscientist) while learning how plastics can create some interesting things. Ready to learn more? BUBBLE CATCHING!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Stretchy cotton gloves
- A bottle of bubble solution with a bubble wand
- A friend
WHAT YOU DO:
Step 1. Put on the stretchy gloves.
Step 2. Ask your friend to blow some bubbles.
Step 3. Place your hand out so that a bubble can land on your palm.
๏ปฟCan you catch it without bursting it?
WHAT'S GOING ON?
Bubbles are made from a thin film of soapy water that is filled with air. The water drops form little bridges that link them together. The soap coats the water bridges to keep them linked up. These bridges create surface tension – they keep the bubble from bursting. You can touch a bubble if you don’t break the surface tension. You can do this if you wear a clean, dry cloth object like the stretchy gloves. Adding dirt or oil can break the surface tension. Your fingers are naturally oily, which is why touching a bubble without the gloves would burst the bubble!
TRY THIS: Take off the gloves and coat your hand with the bubble solution. Try to catch a bubble with your soapy hand. Which way works better for catching bubbles?
We are proud to present Mad Science of Palm Beach as a sponsor of Macaroni Kid Wellington-Royal Palm Beach. Please note: parents should do their own research when selecting programs for their children.
